I interviewed for the Product Engineer role. I first spoke with a recruiter who was friendly and easy to talk to. Then, I had a technical interview focused on system design.
The engineer leading that call seemed disengaged from the start. There wasn’t much collaboration or feedback during the exercise, which made it difficult to gauge whether I was on the right track. Usually, system design interviews have at least some back-and-forth, but this felt flat and one-sided.
Afterward, I received a very generic rejection email that didn’t include any feedback. That was disappointing, given how much PostHog’s handbook emphasizes transparency.
If you actually read the handbook closely, it comes across as somewhat pretentious — more like a marketing document about how “different” and “weird” they are than a genuine reflection of how they treat candidates. The overall experience made me feel that the company’s communication style doesn’t fully match the open, people-first culture it advertises.
Basically, a design analytics page.
