Software Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

I applied online and had an online quiz on HackerRank. It was not that hard, but I encountered two ridiculous multiple-choice questions.

One was about data structure design for a large storage system, and the other was about issues in a piece of code for a concurrent container.

Aside from those, most questions were easy, especially the coding problems. The last "bonus" coding question was actually the easiest.

I thought I did well enough, but they rejected me anyway.

UPDATE: They gave me feedback saying I struggled with sentence completion and coding. This was a joke. The coding problems were so easy, and the solutions I provided were optimal.

I suspect they tried to make up a reason to reject me. Well, I guess sometimes you can't always know the truth.

Questions

Given the data structure design of a large storage system, choose the best ones.

Given the implementation of a concurrent container, choose the issues the code has.
