Pros: Bleeding-edge development of tech. Good people to help out when you need it. A lot of resources for personal and professional growth.

Cons: Requires a lot of commitment. Crunches happen periodically, but to be fair, not all the time.

Cons: Long hours, tedious work. Promotions are based on doing tons of grunt work, not quality or smarts. Quality gets you 3/5; grunt work gets you 4/5. Cafe food is bad. Low salary. Stock that never goes up! Wireless data is the most in thing in tech now, but at Qualcomm, at the center of this innovation, we never saw any financial benefit out of it. Outside wireless, maybe systems companies with unknown brands. Even in San Diego, where Qualcomm is the largest private employer, when you tell people you work for Qualcomm, they think you sell beer or something in Qualcomm Stadium.

Pros: Solid pay and benefits - interesting work.

Cons: Lack of collaboration. Silo-centric.
