Online Assessment:

This test has two parts:

  1. Aptitude & Reasoning: Around 25 questions on Quantitative Aptitude. It's difficult to manage time for this round, as 25 questions are to be solved in 30 minutes. A good strategy to prepare for this would be to revise basic formulas from GFG.
  2. CS Fundamentals and C Programming / Debugging: Questions in this section revolve around concepts from Computer Networks, Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, and mainly Data Structures and C Programming. 35 questions, 45 minutes.

Technical Round 1 [~1 Hour]:

Interviewer started with coding questions that were fairly simple. The first was a simpler variant of Matching Brackets, which could be solved without a stack. We discussed both with and without a stack and why a stack is necessary in the original problem.

Next, the question was Diameter of a Tree.

Following that, the interviewer asked questions about projects, stressing the project that involved IoT. Finally, they asked a puzzle on numbers, which can be found in the Top 25 Puzzles on GFG. I couldn't solve the puzzle.

Behavioral questions included: What do you know about Qualcomm? What's the first thing you look for when purchasing a phone? Do you know which part is responsible for all communications in a phone?

Technical Round 2 [~1 Hour]:

Started with "Tell me about yourself" and asking me to explain each of my projects in detail, followed by a coding question on Bit Manipulation. It was relatively easy, but the interviewer wanted me to demonstrate different ways of sharing a variable, such as global, static, pass by value, and reference.

Asked what the volatile keyword does in C, which I could not recollect. Explained the memory map of C in detail.

Discussed Process Synchronization and Semaphores in OS. Explained Little Endian vs. Big-Endian and whether we would have to change the way we access data. With help from the interviewer, I could answer that it only matters if the word size is different, and they seemed satisfied.

They revisited a particular project on my resume, MPTCP, in Computer Networks, and asked questions about it. This time, they were satisfied.

Hiring Manager Round:

Standard questions like "Tell me about yourself," "Why Qualcomm?", and "Are you flexible with a change in location?" were asked. Interestingly, they even asked what my parents do. They also mentioned that it must be getting harder to bag job offers during the pandemic, perhaps trying to gauge if I was looking for just any job or genuinely interested in Qualcomm.
