Pros

Good compensation and benefits (for now).

Generally friendly people that are easy to work with.

Can work on cutting-edge technology and for an industry leader.

High retention rate; few people leave because this is considered the pinnacle of many fields.

An environment that can have a grad-school feel at times (to a point; see: upcoming layoffs).

Cons

Crunch time is the default state. Expect to work evenings and weekends often, which will get worse with the hiring freeze. Benefits and stock grants are to be cut. Rising is slow due to people entrenched in the top positions.

Advice to Management

Use the upcoming cost reduction to clean house at the top. If you really care about costs, then put away the politics and personalities and find out who's actually performing for the bottom line.
