I had given the Rakuten aptitude test on December 19th, 2011, in Pune, India.
It consisted of three rounds:
1st: Aptitude test 2nd: HR interview (30-45 min) 3rd: HR interview (detailed and more probing) (30 min - 45 min)
The aptitude test included a few HTML/email protocol questions, questions on databases and C, and some questions on OS CPU scheduling. The aptitude is easier to crack.
Once the aptitude is cleared, you are put through two rounds of HR interviews. Both interviews include high-level HR personal questions of approximately 45 minutes. Questions are also asked about your BE and TE projects. Please refer to all general HR-type questions, as the HR rounds are tough.
Examples include: Why Rakuten? Your three weaknesses? Leadership qualities? Situations if you were a manager, and so on. Please be sure of your weakness, as further questions are based on it.
For example, if you say you get irritated as a weakness, then later in the interview, they would ask if you were a manager and got irritated, how would you handle your colleagues.
The best possible answer for you here is generalized by me. Have a look: "I think everyone has their own weakness, but the important thing is to overcome those weaknesses and not let them affect your attitude and work."
I couldn't make it to the final three after the last HR. Hope you can! Take care.
