I went through a referral as I knew one of the founders from a previous company. I also had an interview a couple of years ago via referral as well.
I had a good conversation with the manager and HR.
I was interviewed for a technical challenge by the guy who bluntly rejected me twice from the first referral and second referral.
I had two promotions and I received an exceptional award in the previous organization where I knew the founders, and I was rejected at Ramp because the technical coding challenge interviewer clearly had something in his head to reject me ahead of the interview.
The interviewer was very adamant and felt like he knew the world. He didn’t have a meaningful conversation with me nor try to gauge my skills. He was just looking for reasons to reject me.
Cut to the post-technical interview. I literally waited a couple of weeks, with emails sent in between to check the status. No response. I got a rejection email after two weeks.
At the beginning of the interview, I mentioned that I was on a ticking clock because of my visa issue.
One piece of advice to Ramp: Keep an eye on your interview process. Don't just make people who are already there happy, but try to give the people who seek opportunities a fair and happy experience. You never know who you might be rejecting.
A very unpleasant interview question: pinging an API and finding patterns of failures, etc.
