Engineering Manager Interview Experience - United States

Process

  1. Introductory Meeting:
  • Describing where I am and how I built the team.
  • Challenges solved.

Received a very confusing response: they liked me but not for this team, suggesting another. I clarified with the recruiter before proceeding, asking how the other team knew my feedback. They stated everything was transferred and the other team was excited to speak with me onsite.

Onsite:

  1. System Design:
  • How would you build a chat system? The interviewer acknowledged and approved my answers at the end.
  1. Hiring Manager:
  • Managerial standard questions.

After this, everything went silent. The recruiter informed me they were waiting for final feedback before moving to the next steps. An hour later, they sent a blank rejection email with no feedback.

This was a waste of time. They seem like novices trying to act like a FAANG company.
