This was probably the worst experience I’ve had with a company.
During the initial recruiter screen, the recruiter seemed to have no idea what was going on and was just now seeing my resume. She pointed out a typo and seemed rather spacey.
Next, I had a one-hour call with the hiring manager. She didn’t ask me questions. Instead, she kept asking what questions I had. It was awkward because she was the interviewer, not me.
After that, they sent a huge online assignment. It took three hours and was in an awful tool called filtered.io. I was supposed to get the code to work to call an API that had zero documentation, and then write a lengthy write-up selling my solution.
I submitted without it working because the tool did not specify what inputs the API accepted, and there was no way to debug within the tool.
They sent a rejection. I emailed them, explaining how the tool was bad, etc. The recruiter called me, said she felt bad, and they would do a normal Zoom tech screen.
I solved the guy’s problem (in two different ways); it was a basic kth smallest number problem.
I was rejected the next day. It seemed this second chance was just to be nice, and they had already decided no. Such a waste of time.
Kth smallest number. What questions do you have for me?
