Process
In 2023, I passed two technical stages but failed the third-to-last stage, System Design. I was given detailed feedback, which I appreciated.
In 2024, a recruiter approached me and asked me to retry the last stage. I participated in the System Design interview, which, in my opinion, went much better than the first. However, I failed again.
This time, I did not receive any feedback. I asked for feedback three times via separate emails, and I eventually received some, but it was vague, lacked any technical details, and seemed AI-generated.
In 2025, a recruiter asked me to repeat the process. However, I will not be participating because I had a negative experience in 2024.

Cons: Some productivity metrics, like lines of code or PR count.
The culture favors those who prioritize work and seek big, complex challenges.
Industry-standard frameworks are rarely used, which may affect long-term skill relevance.
Compensation can be inconsistent — new mid-level hires might out-earn experienced seniors or leads.
Team quality varies: some have weak product direction.
It's easy to experience imposter syndrome, even as a strong engineer.

Pros: - Great compensation.
- Awesome place to grow.
- Satisfying work.
- Flexible work hours.
- Remote work opportunity. (I haven't seen an office IRL for 2 years.)
Cons: Sometimes high-paced but hard work is rewarded with a nice bonus.
Not for people who want to take it easy and chill.

Pros: 1. There are many real-world challenges to be solved with urgency.
2. You get to work on cool stuff from day one.
3. Many smart, competing colleagues.
4. The product is growing every day, so there are many new opportunities. There are even opportunities which are not yet polished, waiting to be discovered.
Cons: 1. Lack of internal technical documentation makes it a bit hard to navigate one's way through the huge codebase.
2. Not all teams use monitoring tools effectively, which may lead to delayed discovery of bugs.
