If you are lucky in your team, you can be surrounded by great team members – talented, helpful, and smart.
A great place to work once you put in the work, but a great support system outside of work is needed too if you are a parent or carer.
In many teams, the main focus is KPIs, which can really burn you out. Work-life balance disappears when the focus is on KPIs only.
Not all managers are great, and some lack empathy and understanding of their team's struggles. I've been mostly lucky, but some of my colleagues have not been so fortunate. It truly depends on the team and management you are in, and all can change very quickly.
Seek your team's feedback, listen to them, and act on it. This is the only way you can retain your top talent.
