Pros
  • very dynamic company.
  • large scale.
  • nice solutions to learn about.
  • The engineers are very talented. You can learn from them if you are lucky to get good teammates or a good functional manager.
Cons
  • High pressure on delivering fast („no, don’t do overhours but you don’t deliver fast enough” 🤣)
  • Unfair evaluation: I know people working very hard, doing overhours, and still getting low grades.
  • Many in-house solutions that are nice to learn about, but on the other hand, they are not useful if you want to change jobs (like a UI framework). They also might stop devs from growing (because of a UI framework, you can’t use SwiftUI).
  • In theory, the role of a functional manager sounds good, but in practice, most of them do not do a good job in terms of motivation and helping to grow.
  • I don’t think it’s a good company if you have babies. On one hand, of course, everyone says they are supportive, etc.; on the other hand, they still expect you to deliver, so if you don’t, you get a low grade or even get fired.
Advice to Management

Stick to the values and expect managers to stick to them. Many FMs are not good managers.
