Pros
  • Technical challenges
  • You can grow if you're willing to work very hard
  • If you don't, you can just 9-5 without much worry
  • No "hybrid office" bs
  • Good engineering and software delivery practices
  • No layoffs
Cons
  • Toxic people, especially some of Russians, Belarusians, and Ukrainians.
  • A ton of bureaucracy, and you need to know people to get around it. For example, you may wait for your PR to be merged for days, but if you know someone there, they can merge it for you right now. If you don't...
  • The company is thrifty. For example, you only get a Macbook and £400 to set up a home office, and that's it – no external screen, no education budget, and it's very hard to get funding to go to conferences. Always the cheapest wine at parties, etc., etc. Maybe this is connected to the "no layoffs" point, though.
  • There's the whole promotion framework, but very little clarity regarding how much money you will get at the next level. Some people get none, only more responsibility.
  • Stupid corporate "values" are stuffed into every executive's message. The only real value is "deliver, deliver, deliver, and no one will care if you're a jerk."
  • Attrition is very high.
  • The London office is very lackluster.
Advice to Management

You don't have to be so rude to be effective.
