Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Santa Monica, California

July 8, 2016

Process

I spoke with a recruiter over the phone for an initial screening, then completed an online technical test.

After that, I was invited on-site for a full-day interview that lasted from approximately 10 AM to 4 PM.

During the on-site interview, I met with 5-6 different people, and only one person asked any technical questions.

They place a strong emphasis on culture and how well candidates fit their existing team. Apparently, the online technical assessment was sufficient for them to evaluate my technical skills, so they didn't feel it necessary to revisit that during the in-person interview. However, this approach might vary for other departments.

The only negative aspect I would mention is that about a week later, the hiring manager requested that I return in person to be informed that I did not receive an offer. I'm unsure why this was necessary, as a simple phone call or email could have conveyed the same information.
