Pros: Good benefits Talented people across disciplines A real passion for making great games within game teams

Cons: Career progression is legitimately terrible. You can slave away get positive feedback and be stuck at the senior level forever in spite outperforming those a level above you for years (I've seen this happen to multiple people in multiple disciplines) Leadership favors hiring at the highest levels but doesnt manage to fill out our ranks with promising associate/mid levels. Half the people they hire dont end up performing It feels like every director just fills out principal roles like supreme court justices Vertical DEI kinda sucks. Teams aren't very diverse especially in design and engineering. Everyone is white or east asian and basically no women

Pros: Remote working is still possible

Cons: No job security, Q1 you are forced to enter "death note" goals for the year, and Q2, Q3 there is a check in, only "on track", or "need improve". Your manager can enter the note whatever he wants, and you will get piped at anytime. Q4 is the annual review, manager can write anything and put you on "not meet"

Pros: Treat employees well. There are good perks and a genuine joy around what we create as a company. Good transparency.

Cons: Compensation and career opportunities aren't that great. Recent layoff situations seemed to be avoidable and could have been handled better.
