I've found that there's great culture between engineers. I've always gotten the support and collaboration I needed when working with the people in my team. There's a willingness to help others out when you needed assistance on tasks or projects.
I've also got support from my immediate manager when balancing multiple projects. We've smartly used the resources in our department to deliver our work in a timely manner.
The product itself is very unique. I feel fortunate to say I worked at this company on a head-turning product.
Unlimited PTO was nice so I could take vacation whenever I wanted. My manager never said no to vacation as long as we found someone to take my work.
During my time, I saw a lot of bureaucratic work piled on to the normal engineering work. TPMs put more on engineers' plates to show the status of open tasks for leadership. I wish there was more support from these mid-level managers to help engineers complete their work.
Too much work was given with no real clarity on the scope. Tasks became assigned because they came from upper management, but there was no real explanation as to what the priority was or why it was needed.
Lots of lack of alignment on certain topics. Multiple meetings were held to determine what the priority should be. I felt like I had to make a case every time something got assigned to me that was not urgent.
Take concrete feedback from the engineers and relay that back to senior management.
Challenge certain decisions rather than simply accepting them.
Relay the current workload that needs to be completed before accepting extra work.
Interview Process: * 30-Minute Phone Screen - Recruiter * 45-Minute Technical Interview - Hiring Manager * 2-Hour Presentation/Interpersonal Skills/Technical Application * 20 minutes to present technical project * 10 minutes Q&A
I just had two rounds of interviews. The first round was with HR, which was more about understanding the role and you describing yourself. The second round was with the Manager, which involved technical questions.
A 5-step process. Initially, it began with a recruiter call, then a hiring manager call, followed by three interviews that touched on React, system design, and Promise class implementation. The process overall was a bit messy; I think they're still
