Process

Karat Interview

The Karat interview was completed with the help of external interviewers. I was asked questions pertaining to computer science trivia for the first 25 minutes, and had a graph LeetCode-style question for the final 25 minutes.

Questions

Given a graph of courses and their prerequisites, construct a list that shows the order in which you have to take the courses.

Describe the difference between strong and eventual consistency in a database. Give an example for each.

  • Strong consistency: All reads receive the most recent write or an error. Example: A bank account balance must always reflect the latest deposit or withdrawal immediately.
  • Eventual consistency: If no new updates are made to a given data item, eventually all accesses to that item will return the last updated value. Example: Social media posts might take a few moments to appear on all followers' feeds.
