Pros: Extraordinary technology--for instance, any one of the thousands of games on the Roblox platform could have players on Xbox, a tablet device, iPhone, Android, desktop, etc. It's amazing. A few days ago, I saw a cutting-edge multiplayer game re-implemented on Roblox with astonishing fidelity. The developers who build this technology are sitting all around me--that's perhaps the best thing. Another: it is run by adults. Not by a 25-year-old Stanford drop-out who just wants to be famous. The codebase here was created deliberately with tender loving care by masters. As a result, there seems to be astonishingly little technical debt--e.g., on the Roblox blog, you can read about major upgrades to the core game components (the physics engine). This would be impossible without a rock-solid codebase.

Cons: about 325 people. There is some bureaucracy, but if you are coming from a larger org, you might have the opposite impression.

Pros: This is the most professional gaming company I have ever worked at, David, Keith, Matt—everyone just oozes professionalism. None of that big-ego stuff you find at other gaming companies. At Roblox, people come to work to do their best and to be efficient. The Roblox game environment is a 24/7 host solution, and yet OT hardly ever occurs. Why? Because the system was engineered to be robust and scalable. And what is probably even more important, the alert and notification system doesn't bug you at the first sign of problems; it actually has some intelligence to it such that you only get paged when things are really suspect/bad.

Cons: Not sure if I should put it down as a 'con,' but Roblox is still a young start-up. Their policies and benefits are not as elaborate as you will find at other companies.

Pros: Location, Meals and Snacks, Great product

Cons: Very individual culture, no paths towards roles like Software Architect. Leadership roles are strictly administrative.
