This was one of the worst interviews I've had in my last 10+ years. I'm sharing my experience here so you can gain some insight.
There was no technical phone interview. I received a HackerRank link after some informal conversation.
Two coding problems were presented in the online test. These two problems were straightforward in business logic. I accomplished both and made sure they passed all functionality tests.
There was a case with TLE (took too long) that I did not bother to fix for the following reasons:
Thus, I did not get the onsite due to the TLE.
Overall, Roblox's interview process was so broken. They don't know how to perform interviews and evaluate candidates properly. An interview is not about throwing a hard problem to a candidate and expecting a perfect answer. It's a two-way collaboration process: Does the candidate have good technical skills? And can the candidate work with me to a reasonable solution?
If a company doesn't know how to conduct interviews, do you expect them to have good engineering practices and culture? I highly doubt it. Therefore, think twice before applying for a software engineering job there.
