Pros: Some of the best colleagues that I’ve met are from this company, offering great work life balance and PTO.

Cons: Frequent layoffs have always been an issue.

Pros: Solid technologies and modern processes. Lots of competent engineers and management. It is a mortgage company, but there is a big emphasis on technology.

Cons: On-call weeks can be a drag, involving getting alerts and being tethered to a laptop. While on-call, you may need to do 1-3 deployments per on-call week after hours. This can be 40 minutes multiple hours each.

Pros: Rocket Mortgage truly stands out as an exceptional place to work, primarily due to its vibrant culture centered around innovation and an incredibly supportive environment. From day one, I've been consistently impressed by the genuine willingness of every team member to help each other succeed. Whether it is a complex technical challenge or navigating new business processes, there is an inherent "we're in this together" mentality. Colleagues readily offer their expertise, share knowledge, and provide constructive feedback, fostering a truly collaborative and growth-oriented atmosphere. This helping nature isn't just encouraged; it is deeply embedded in the daily interactions, making it easy to onboard, learn, and contribute meaningfully. Beyond the supportive culture, Rocket Mortgage is a powerhouse of innovation. The company consistently encourages employees to think outside the box and find better ways to approach problems, no matter how big or small. This drive for continuous improvement is palpable across all teams. What is particularly exciting is the company's recent and significant shift towards leveraging Artificial Intelligence. There is a heavy, proactive focus on exploring and implementing AI solutions to streamline operations, enhance client experiences, and drive efficiency. It is inspiring to be part of a team that is not just talking about emerging technologies but actively investing in and integrating them into core functions.

Cons: While the company culture is incredibly supportive, one area for improvement lies in the software engineering career path. Growth and advancement can sometimes feel slow, even when consistently exceeding expectations and delivering exceptional, out-of-the-box solutions. Verbal appreciation is abundant, which is great, but it doesn't always translate into annual performance reviews, where "Met Expectations" is a common outcome, even for those who truly "Exceeded Expectations." This can be a point of frustration for highly driven engineers.
