Cons: Working here will give you some unique technical challenges, as well as an opportunity to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry. However, the culture is toxic, and there are many underlying issues with the company. With the new wave of Amazon executives, the company has taken a turn for the worse. The culture is now a culture of PICs/PIPs and performance management. Employees are now under constant stress to not only meet the expectations of their role but also to try and sell themselves to anyone and everyone so that they can remain viable. This, of course, creates an environment that is full of fear and one-upmanship and takes the joy out of the job. It is a constant struggle mentally, and it shows on the faces of the employees daily. Many employees are waiting for the IPO, which keeps being delayed over and over again. It's a running joke that IPO is "one year away," but this catchphrase has been used for the past 3 or 4 years. Think twice and thrice if you are considering working here. Management is not transparent, though they would like to think they are. Surveys are not anonymous, even though they continue to remind us that they are. There is constant turnover; don't let the company try to convince you otherwise. They will say they have not had to lay off people en masse (like Google, Amazon, etc.), but they either performance manage people out (in droves, around 40 the last quarter), or they make people redundant only to fill their roles a few months later, or people just quit in disgust. Recently, a number of employees were made redundant. The company held a meeting to let the employees know. Afterwards, the employees were asked if they had any good jokes to tell. Seriously, what is wrong with the management here? To work here, you'll need to wade through a daily minefield of favoritism, deceit, and fear. Make sure you understand what you are getting yourself into.

The work is impactful, and you're encouraged to own features end-to-end. Truly Empowered Teams: Teams operate with high autonomy. We get to decide on the best technical approach and tooling to solve problems. Management trusts engineers, which fosters a sense of ownership and reduces unnecessary overhead. Positive and Collaborative Culture: The Sydney office has a fantastic atmosphere - friendly, highly collaborative, and driven. People are smart but humble. There's a strong emphasis on continuous learning and knowledge sharing across engineering teams. Compensation and Benefits: Rokt is highly competitive with other top tech companies in Sydney for both salary and equity. The office amenities and social events are excellent, creating a great place to be during the week. Focus on Growth: We use modern technologies and are always exploring better ways to build software. There is a clear growth path for ICs (Individual Contributors) who want to move into Principal roles or technical leadership.

Cons: Given the rapid global growth, there can occasionally be ambiguity around priorities between different global teams, which requires proactive communication to manage dependencies effectively. Team structure also changes frequently, which can lead to some disruption.
