I applied for this position online in mid-January and received a response asking me to schedule the first-round interview with the hiring manager within two weeks. After that, my virtual onsite interviews were also scheduled within two weeks. The team moved really fast.
The role is in the search team, and every interviewer was from that team. This allowed me to ask many deep technical questions during Q&A. I think this is much better than the general hiring process in large companies because you can ask specific questions and get a better feel for the team's culture.
I enjoyed talking with the team. Everyone was excited about their projects and possessed expert skills in this domain. This was one of the best interview experiences I've ever had.
Michelle Hayes was the recruiter for the role, and she was so responsive and helpful. Since I'm not in the Bay Area, she gave me many tips about the culture, location, and traffic near the company, and also patiently introduced the company's benefits.
The team did not pressure me to make a decision quickly and allowed me to finish other interviews first. Not every company does that, so I really appreciate the team.
Finally, I accepted Roku's offer and turned down others from big tech companies like Google and pre-IPO startups. I believe the positive interview experience made me feel the company has great potential.
