Process
I was approached by a Roku recruiter who mentioned a backend development role. However, the hiring manager is looking for a Data Engineer who can build a pipeline to read data from Hadoop to a reporting UI, which is not an area where I have extensive experience. I observe a disconnect between the recruiters and hiring managers at this company, something I have not encountered before.

Recruiting/HR shills? Pros? Well, there is a good amount of employee talent. One of the most diverse groups of individuals I've had the pleasure to work with. The free snacks are plentiful as well. Interesting problems and a fun product in a hot space at the moment.Cons: * No salary reviews, bonus, and a heavily diluted stock. Health plan(s) weren't that good and were costly to employees. * Kind of a 'too little, too late' story for Roku. If this were 2012, I'd be more optimistic. But now with Amazon, Google, and Apple in the fray, it's time to cue up the swan song. * IPO? More management by stick and carrot. If I had a dime for every time I heard the word "IPO."
