Senior Software Engineer Interview Experience - Bellevue, Washington
Process
A recruiter reached out, and I responded. I then had two phone screenings and a 4.5-hour on-site interview.
They extended an offer for a higher level than the original job posting, as I obviously had more experience, and I believe the interviews demonstrated that.
The negotiation was pretty smooth, and I happily accepted the offer.
Questions
A typical mix of coding, system design, and behavioral questions.
The questions were more reasonable than those at Facebook and Google. For the most part, the interview did not try to discover whether I remembered complex algorithms from college days 15+ years ago.

Salesforce Work Experiences
- 2.0Average work, no clear visionSenior Software Engineer • Former EmployeeBellevue, Washington, United StatesFebruary 16, 2023Pros: Friendly colleagues, good work culture.Cons: - Bad company - Terrible tech stack, outdated and heavily influenced by former Microsoft employees.
- 3.0Great Culture, Dev NightmareSenior Software Engineer • Current EmployeeBellevue, Washington, United StatesSeptember 10, 2019Pros: The people are great and welcoming. Benefits and comp are pretty solid as well, and being able to work remotely full time is a great perk. Work-life balance is also insanely good, with unlimited PTO as soon as you are a mid-level engineer. Which, for a bigger company, is a huge perk.Cons: Their core codebase is a nightmare to develop on. Thirty minutes of build time to just fail out due to a minor build issue. And just because tests pass locally doesn't mean they will pass in the remote build, and you won't find out for four hours if you are lucky. This wouldn't be the worst if it was well-documented, but everything is passed on via tribal knowledge. So, if you are on a small team with maybe one engineer with tenure, pray they know what they are doing.
- 3.0A good company for people who have a familySenior Software Engineer • Current EmployeeBellevue, Washington, United StatesJune 7, 2021Pros: Good work-life balance, good company culture.Cons: Old tech stack, low pay, no refresh.
