Last week, I received an email from internal recruiter April (no phone conversation).
She asked for my availability to schedule a telephonic interview with the hiring manager.
I provided my availability for the next three days.
I didn't hear back for the next four days.
She then contacted me again and asked for my availability after three weeks, stating the manager was busy.
After three weeks, the manager finally joined the call.
He told me he was unsure why he was conducting the interview, informed me he was having a release, and that nobody was available to take interviews. He mentioned he might contact me back after a month.
Despite this, he asked me behavioral questions for half an hour. He asked about my best project, my worst one, what I would do when something happens in a project, and hypothetical situations like "pigs start flying or cats and dogs live together." There were zero technical questions.
Nothing happened for the next four weeks.
I sent a follow-up email.
The HR responded that she would check back.
After another month, she replied:
"Thanks for applying to the position. The team has changed the skillset requirement they want!"
The team took close to three months to figure out the skillset for a position they opened earlier.
I'm not judging; it was fun. I'm just sharing the experience.
