The process took about four weeks. The recruitment team was very courteous and extremely organized; kudos to them.
The first step was a phone screen, where you'll discuss your past experience and current skill set.
Next, a coding exercise; there wasn't much pressure here, just complete the exercise when you can.
After that, a 1:1 interview with another software engineer. This involved speaking about your background and completing an online coding exercise, where they could see how you built your solution.
If you passed this stage, you'd enjoy a panel interview, which in my case, consisted of two separate interviews with a mixture of engineers and managers. You'll discuss your experience and background, answer behavioral questions, and complete coding/architecture exercises using a whiteboard.
Once you passed all that, you'd get the final director interview. Here, you'll discuss experience, answer some behavioral questions, and explore career path options.
In all stages of the interviews, you're always given the chance to ask questions at the end.
Do your research on Salesforce: what they've done, what Marc has done, their involvement with the community, what it's like to work there, how they've handled growth – really, anything you want. Just be engaged and make sure they understand what's important to you in a job.
While specifics can't be discussed, all coding exercises allow you to use the language of your choice.
The main thing to remember is to break down the solution. They are looking for how you solve the problem and how you think, and aren't too concerned with syntax (unless they are specifically testing for knowledge of a particular language).
