I contacted HR through a job posting from school. HR responded right away with a few questions, primarily to confirm my willingness to work in Korea.
Within a few days, a phone interview took place. One person, who was in direct contact with me, spoke English. Other individuals were present but were not introduced. After I answered each question, it appeared she was translating my responses from English to Korean for them. There was also approximately a minute or so of Korean conversation during the interview.
The questions focused on "why":
They also asked about my resume and a little about my research.
After sending a thank-you email, I waited a week without an update from HR. I emailed again and found out I had passed.
The next step was an in-person interview. After a couple of months of planning my visit to America, I met with a panel of four interviewers. The interview lasted an hour, during which I was asked to present my research.
The questions were primarily about my research, with very few technical questions asked. It seemed they were more interested in getting to know me. The interviewers were nice and friendly, and their English was very good. The questions were not too difficult. It was a very good experience for me.
It took one month for them to make a decision or at least get back to me after follow-ups.
