Process

A recruiter from Bangalore contacted me through a job portal and asked for my profile. After that, he asked me to schedule a phone interview. When I inquired about convenient dates, he didn't reply for 20 days.

After that, he called and asked to schedule a face-to-face interview in San Jose, California. He clearly stated it would be a discussion with HR.

Once I traveled there, he called me. (The HR had come from India to the USA specifically to conduct interviews, or perhaps he wanted to visit the USA and fabricated a reason for his higher management.) He told me he had left a voicemail on my phone about the interview time, which was much earlier than the time we had agreed upon via email a few days prior. I somehow rushed to Samsung Research in Mountain View and arrived on time.

After I got there, he said the interview was delayed by 30 minutes and made me wander from building to building. Finally, when the interview started, they informed me it would be a technical interview, for which I was completely unprepared.

It was a three-panel interview. One person was not at all interested in the interview and left after 20 minutes. The other person, the HR, arrived 40 minutes into the interview. The third person I interviewed with was unaware of which area to focus on, so he just started asking questions about what he knew. He focused on areas I am not interested in and courses that do not align with my field of interest. Frankly, he was trying to show off his intelligence rather than understanding my profile and expertise. At the end, when I asked him about the Harman acquisition, he asked, "Oh, when did that happen?" You can imagine the level of expertise he had in interviewing candidates.

I literally felt there was absolutely no management. Even a kindergarten child would have done a better job than these individuals. There was no clear communication, no action plan, and no one knew what they were supposed to do. It was the most disgusting experience ever.
