First, a test with some algorithm questions was sent on the HackerRank platform. These questions were in English, part multiple-choice and part requiring the development of algorithms that needed to pass tests.
After that, I contacted HR, where I was informed that I had passed and they asked about my professional experiences. Part of this interview was conducted in English, and the remaining interviews were completely in English.
Next, a phone interview was scheduled with engineers from the team for the position in question. In this interview, I was presented with two algorithmic problems to solve on a platform similar to Google Docs, where they observed the code I was typing. I was able to develop in the language I felt most comfortable with and had to explain the complexity of the algorithms I was developing.
After overcoming this stage, an interview was scheduled with a team member in Germany, in the same format as the previous interview.
I find this type of selection process very interesting, as it evaluates the ability to solve problems efficiently, not knowledge of language X, Y, or framework Z. In fact, I was informed that they did not require knowledge of a specific language to be eligible for this position.
I would like to see more selection processes of this type here in Brazil.
