Note: This interview took place in May 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I had a phone interview scheduled with the hiring manager. A few hours before the scheduled time, however, my internet began having issues. I requested a reschedule due to this, but was assured that I would not need the internet for this part of the interview and we could continue as scheduled.

Partway through the interview, however, the hiring manager wanted to do an online coding question, despite having told me before that I wouldn't need the internet for this specific part. When I reminded them of this, they asked me to go to a cafe, Starbucks, or anywhere with Wi-Fi.

This was months into the pandemic, which was running out of control in the United States. Therefore, either the hiring manager was unaware of the pandemic, or knew but didn't care or didn't think it was serious. Either way, that's not someone I would want to work for.

I did not schedule a follow-up interview after being asked to go out during a pandemic. Hopefully, if I apply to a ServiceNow position in the future, they will actually care about the health and safety of the people they are interviewing.
