Either they are doing evergreen hiring to just keep a pool of candidates, or they have no clue about what kind of candidates they are looking for. The interviewer doesn't know that a HashSet in Java doesn't store duplicate values. If we want to remove duplicates from an unsorted array, sorting is the best way (if a HashSet is not allowed to be used). If you want to copy static files, a CDN is the solution, and this person, being a tech manager, says a CDN is magic and he doesn't want to use it. FYI, a CDN is a software with logic behind it and not magic. Please train your interview panels. It seems like knowing someone very close is the only way to get into your company.
