A friend of mine gave me a referral, and a few days later, a recruiter contacted me. She scheduled a code exercise with one engineer. He had been working for Shopify for 4 months.
He started the interview straight with the code challenge: an algorithm/data structure question that could be solved in the language of my preference. I was trying to solve the problem and got close to the solution, but I got stuck on one part and ended up not completing it.
I had to wait two weeks for the answer, but I knew I hadn’t done well, so the rejection was expected. The problem was the long wait.
I discovered later that if you don't solve the question, you won't go to the next phase. It doesn't matter if you got close. Also, if you get to the onsite interviews, and you are good but not great, they will not hire you.
Negative parts of the interview:
They send you a generic rejection letter, as many other companies do.
Write a function that receives a string of products and returns it with the crescent and decrescent order.
