Process

I received an email from a Development Manager at Shopify asking if I was interested in working there. We had a 30-minute chat, and I decided to apply.

The process was very similar to what they described on the website. I had:

A 30-minute tech challenge with a developer.
A "life story" interview with a recruiter.
A final, comprehensive interview that included:
- Two 75-minute pair programming sessions.
- A one-hour deep-dive technical interview.

They were very kind to send an Uber Eats voucher on the last interview since it was a long one.

All interviewers were extremely nice and helpful. The whole process took three weeks. I received the good news one day after the last interview.

Pros: + Work remote from anywhere in the world. + Great people (talent and 'just' people wise). + Great care when it comes to employee success (work setup, HW support, perks!). + Benefits (own your own development budget, etc.).

Cons: Remote work can be challenging if it's not your style.

Pros: There hasn't been any lately. One time I would rave to family and friends about Shopify, but it's nothing but backtracking and censorship.

Cons: Highly censored, they regularly lock threads if people express concerns. Constantly promise exciting changes only to backtrack at the last minute. Low morale everywhere, senior leadership make everything more difficult by the day.
