The onsite interview was very professional and easy. However, there were a few red flags during the interview.
The first flag was when the fourth interviewer asked me about the job market. I wondered if they had already chosen a candidate or if they were perhaps looking for another position themselves.
The hiring manager kept referring to the role as a "Laboratory Engineer," not "Hardware Test Engineer." I was unsure if this was the correct title, as it appeared as "Hardware Test Engineer" on the Siemens career site.
The job description for the "Hardware Test Engineer" role on the Siemens career site had a typo, stating they were looking for a "Hardware Engineer." I was confused about the exact role they were seeking.
The team was nice and professional, but I do not believe they fully understood what they were looking for. I discussed my eight years of experience in hardware testing and provided examples, yet I was not asked any technical questions related to EVs, despite the role involving testing EV systems and components. This led me to believe they might have been seeking a technician but presented the role as an engineering position. The interview did not seem like a typical Hardware Test Engineer interview.
I received a rejection email yesterday stating they decided to go with other candidates. This reinforces my belief that they were unclear about their requirements. Perhaps they were seeking a candidate with less experience.
The whole interview felt like a complete waste of time.
