I received a phone call from the scheduler and scheduled an onsite interview directly, without any preliminary phone interview. I flew in from Minneapolis to North Carolina for the interview.
I had a three-hour onsite interview, which included separate sessions with:
They all seemed quite approachable. Since my role was essentially a lateral move, the interview questions focused on how I solved problems in my current position. During the onsite, I felt confident that they would offer me the job.
However, the process after the onsite interview is what ultimately led me to decline the offer. It took them a month and a half to provide a response. They extended an offer for an Application Engineer position. I was unhappy because they had interviewed me for a Senior Engineer position and then offered me a different role. They stated that company budgets were insufficient for a Senior Engineer position. As I am currently a Senior Engineer, I asked if they wanted me to take a demotion, but I received no proper response.
Furthermore, the salary offered was the same as my current compensation. On top of that, I was shocked to learn that Siemens did not offer any bonuses or a pension plan. Consequently, I had to decline the offer.
