The interview process was normal, though a little delayed.
I received a call from HR for a telephonic interview, which I cleared. The next step was a video conferencing interview.
This took place after one month. I repeatedly sent emails to HR, but there was no response. Finally, I called him, and he scheduled the video conferencing round for Saturday. The interview was conducted from their office, and the panel was from the Gurgaon office.
The interviewer on the panel was very rude. He kept asking questions like: "Answer me. Are you there? Why are you not answering?" It felt like I was answering for my crimes to a judge in court. It was a harsh interview. They asked a lot about OOPs, composition vs. aggregation, SOLID principles, and not much about Java. They also inquired about non-functional requirements in projects and SDLC. It wasn't heavily technical but focused thoroughly on theoretical OOPS concepts.
The interview covered a lot of OOPS concepts, including composition vs. aggregation and SOLID principles. There wasn't much Java-specific questioning, but rather theoretical technical aspects of OOPS concepts, UML diagrams, and application design. Scenario-based questions were asked, such as the advantages of unit testing and the differences between black box and white box testing for developers.
One interviewer specifically asked, "Do you really use SOLID in our design? By the look of your answers, it seems no..."
Design patterns were also discussed, specifically the Adapter and Decorator patterns.
Additionally, I was asked about power generation, what I know about it, and Siemens' involvement in the energy sector, which I had researched briefly.
Surprisingly, I cleared this round. The next was managerial, where questions focused on why I want to join Siemens and other normal scenario-based questions, with no puzzles.
HR is yet to happen; I will update soon.
