Process

I don't generally post, but this was such a negative experience that I felt it needed to be shared on a public forum.

My initial interview with the hiring manager was scheduled incorrectly. The scheduling team did not respond to me about the interview link until four minutes before the interview was set to begin. They told me it was sent to my calendar, but it never was. Nevertheless, I had a great first interview with the hiring manager, and I was extremely optimistic.

The second interview was much more difficult scheduling-wise. I sent my availability, but I did not hear back from the team for a week. I reached out three times to inquire about the issue. When I finally heard back, they had scheduled it during a time I was no longer able to attend. I reached out to them multiple times to inform them that I was no longer available, and they responded at exactly the time of my interview to tell me it had been postponed.

They rescheduled, but the link they provided was incorrect. As a result, no one from the team showed up until ten minutes past the interview time. I presented for ten minutes on my background and past projects, with few questions asked.

Afterward, I had several one-on-one interviews, and none of the interviewers were women. In previous roles, I have been told it's important to always have an under-represented group on the interview panel, as it highlights the need for inclusivity among interviewees. Honestly, this process operated the opposite way. All of the interviewers telling me they had no work-life balance reinforced that sentiment.

Overall, the process undervalued my time, my cross-functional abilities, and my interpersonal skills, while overvaluing knowledge that can be easily researched online.
