Pros
  • Small teams, so lots of responsibility.
  • Lots of smart and kind people.
  • Competitive compensation (though stock vesting is backloaded to encourage 4 years).
Cons
  • Culture is toxic and stressful. Think more Amazon than Facebook.
  • Employees are encouraged to work long hours to make up for lackluster code design, rather than improving the code.
  • More focused on ops and maintenance than long-term improvements to the product.
  • Very top-down management, with most priorities coming from higher-up management than those closer to the product.
Advice to Management

Focus on enabling engineers to be more productive, rather than trying to meet specific goals through long hours.

Be willing to take a temporary hit in order to save time in the long run.
