I was rejected because I was too slow when coding during the interview.

I was asked to review a pull request in Node.js to add a change to a REST endpoint.

I was then asked to implement input validation, caching, and parallelization.

I was told my communication was great, and my comments were spot on, but since I didn't manage to complete the implementation during the interview, it was a no.

I was coming from other technologies and frameworks, and I clearly stated that to the recruiter and the two interviewers multiple times during the process. Everyone reassured me that was not a problem, and nobody expected me to implement the perfect solution during the interview.

Nevertheless, they expected exactly that.

The only positive note was the recruiter, who was kind and communicated well during the whole process.
