Devops Engineer Interview Experience - Herndon, Virginia

Process

Engaged with the hiring manager over a four-month period. The job description was nearly written for me; while I haven't performed DevOps as a position, I have done the necessary work in a piecemeal fashion.

My resume met all the stated job requirements, and my application was, I think, above average. The manager implied that the job was mine and was just waiting for the position to officially open so I could be hired.

After the position opened and my application was submitted, there was no contact with the manager nor HR for two weeks. When I finally reached someone, I was told that the position was closed and that the hiring manager was considering other resumes. Apparently, the decision was made by the "team" without bringing me in for an interview; the only person who ever interviewed me was the hiring manager, who indicated that I was a perfect fit for the job.

Something occurred in the background after the position was officially opened, but I was kept in the dark about the reason the job offer was rescinded.
