Process

HR phone call, technical phone interview, onsite in Santa Clara (NLU position).

The onsite technical interview questions were very easy. They allowed me to use Python, but preferred C++.

People were really nice. The common areas of the office were nice, but the development area looked a little glum. Interns looked pretty dead.

Hiring manager said they are really hard on "cultural fit," and I'm really not sure what they're looking for because the technical aspects were definitely easy.

Questions

Given a function that gives a random int between 1-5, write a function that gives a random int between 1-7.

Determine palindrome.

Given a list of strings and a target string, return all strings that are off by exactly 1 character. (ex. target: hello, list = [hellop, helo, he4llo, he34llo] -> hellop, helo, he4llo)

Removing trailing space characters from a string.

Design a Square struct where it can be split into 4 sub-squares.

A design round, but I can't remember the question.
