I applied online and received a call later to set up a technical phone interview with an engineer. After passing that, I was invited for an onsite interview at the Hawthorne facility, which is absolutely incredible.

For the onsite interview, I was given a tour of the facility with my HR recruiter. I then had to give a 30-minute presentation about an engineering project to about 15 engineers and my HR recruiter. The panel of engineers asked me technical questions about it, so make sure you are confident about your project.

They then asked me to leave so they could evaluate me and determine whether they wanted to continue interviews. I passed that, and then I had about 12 interviews with various engineers. The number really depends on whoever wants to interview you; I assume the more the better.

Everyone was very friendly and cool to talk to. At the same time, they were asking technical questions, so I had to stay on my toes.

I received free frozen yogurt and free lunch (which was pretty good, by the way). I also saw the Iron Man costume, the Dragon, the rockets, and met some of the smartest people in my life. I also solved some technical problems.

I received a call about two days later asking for an executive summary (I'm not sure what this was used for). I had to wait a while for this to get approved (about one month), and then I received an offer!

Everyone at the Hawthorne site was awesome!

I was asked a couple of questions like:

"(such and such event) just happened, how do you fix this within the next 30 minutes so that we can launch? Would you do anything differently if given more time?"
