Software Engineer Interview Experience

January 1, 2025
Negative ExperienceNo Offer

Process

Vanilla JavaScript take-home, and then a four-round virtual onsite consisting of functional programming, dashboard building system design, vanilla JS UI slideshow functionality, and behavioral questions.

Even if you pass the interviews, you will get stuck in the "team matching phase," which for this company doesn't mean that you will actually match with a team. It is highly unlikely you will match with a team, as their hiring bar is lower than other big tech companies and only a couple of positions are open for FE devs.

This is not worth your time if you are a front-end engineer. They focus deeply on your vanilla JS skills for some reason. If you've been using React/Angular (like every sane other developer), you will be at a massive disadvantage.

Please spend your time interviewing for companies that do not test vanilla JS and will actually give you an offer if you pass the technical bar.

Questions

Building a table in vanilla JS for the take home. Object manipulation using JS functions. Building a dashboard for system design. Standard behavioral questions.
