Machine Learning Engineer Interview Experience

Process

The interview process consisted of a call with HR, a tech screen, and a virtual on-site.

The HR screen was straightforward, covering how my experience mapped to the position.

The phone screen involved a design coding question with multiple parts. Each part, by itself, wasn't that complicated, but they built on one another.

The virtual on-site included:

  • One coding round
  • One ML design round
  • One manager chat
  • One bug squash round (clone a repository and fix bugs)
  • One ML coding round (given a dataset, build a model)

Most of my interviewers were pleasant, but others were not helpful. They let me flounder when I was stuck, even when I asked for help. One interviewer, in particular, led me down the wrong path, causing me to waste half the interview.

Questions

Given a cloned repository, run the tests and fix the bugs.
