Pros

People culture - small company care in a large enterprise. Engineering culture - in many divisions, engineers are equal partners in forging a way forward. Bangalore - Vested with decision autonomy and an equal partnership.

Cons

Target doesn’t operate in India, so there is geo and time separation from the customers/shoppers.

  • Group conformity.

  • Engineering: unequal understanding of trade-offs leading to sub-optimal engineering decisions.

Advice to Management

Target is indeed a very special place to work at.

  1. The reason some of our competitors might be doing better at the moment is despite their unhelpful practices, not because of. So let’s apply critical thinking on what we want to change for the better and why.

  2. Let’s prioritise. There’s no bad initiative. Everything that we are doing is worth pursuing, but we can’t do them all at once. That will dissipate focus and energy, and we might not get meaningful outcomes.
