The work-life balance was good; it was very flexible for working from home and flexing hours. This was especially true with their off-the-grid campus location in Brooklyn Park. The Target discount was nice. Benefits and pay were very good.
In IT, they are trying to shove the Agile methodology down the throat of the entire organization. It definitely makes sense in software development areas, but in other areas like Build/Engineer, it's like trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. If you want volatility and a constant state of transformation, Target will be for you. Management is hyper-focused on productivity and the daily micromanaging of engineers. (What was done yesterday? What will be done today?) The last one to leave their desk for the day is the winner. It seems like Target wants to compete with the Amazons of the world, but they can't get the basics down of keeping their store shelves stocked.
Stop micromanaging.
Trust your employees and validate results.
Utilize your employees' actual skill sets, instead of trying to fit them into an Agile peg.
HR initially discussed my experience and salary and arranged the interview for the lead engineer position. The first round of the interview went very well. After the first round, HR told me that the feedback was very positive, but they couldn’t offe
The interview process was poorly managed. The HR team was unsure which team they were conducting interviews for. You need to learn the basic skill of respecting a candidate's time. The interview started with a phone screen where questions were ask
1 Phone screen + Onsite for 4 hours. There is no reason to reject me. I see they are time passing and simply wasting the time of poor candidates. They just don't know what they really need. 2 of my interviewers are ineligible to interview any candida
