Pros

If you're looking for large retail experience, then Target is one of the few out there.

However, expect frustration and an overly managed environment that actually stifles progress and inflates budgets.

Cons

There was very little actual accountability within the group I was working in. Within twelve months, four different managers were involved with the group. Each with at least several years of experience within Target, and yet they had very little ability to communicate ideas, deal with conflict, adhere to timelines and budgets, etc. In short, the group that I was exposed to was very subpar compared to other companies that I've been involved with.

Advice to Management

Flatten down the reporting structure. In most cases, the Project Managers have less than five staff members on their team and they're overwhelmed with work.

Target would be better off flattening out the hierarchy to really focus on the "Fast" of their Fast, Fun and Friendly motto.
