Process

Every department has its own hiring style. This process only applies to my own experience with the Product Excellence Engineer role.

Had a phone screen with a recruiter, then the recruiter scheduled a 30-minute phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager was more interested in finding out who you are rather than what you can do. There were behavioral questions and some non-job-related personal ones. There were no technical questions, which was a bit of a surprise.

One week later, I received a notice from the recruiter that I was rejected. They have enough junior engineers in their group and want more experienced ones.

For people who do not know Tesla Motors, they might assume it was a badly organized company if they went through this interview process. Even the recruiter cared more about the technical aspect than the hiring manager did.
