Process
A technical recruiter reached out. We had a call where they softly felt out my background and then asked for a resume.
The second call was with an experienced engineer who really wanted to get into the weeds of my technical knowledge.
After that, they had me take a one-hour written exam. The exam included many general engineering open-ended questions (statics, strength of materials, etc.) along with questions about practical, on-the-job engineering concepts (manufacturing techniques, drafting markups).
I performed poorly on the test, and the process did not proceed further.

An experienced engineer spoke with me. He asked me about my area of specialization and then tested my knowledge on the subject.
