Process

Absolutely BAD!

It all started with a phone call three months back where I was told it was an immediate opening and that they would be closing the process in a couple of weeks.

Then, there was a shake-up (according to the recruiter), causing a delay. Anyhow, I got my first screening done and received really good feedback from the manager, thanks to the recruiter for the comprehensive feedback. They asked a couple of coding questions and then reviewed my resume.

Next, a second phone call where again, two to three coding questions were asked, and I received good feedback. The team really liked me, and I was told that I had a really good chance of making it. I received an invite for an onsite interview.

The onsite interview was delayed for another 1.5 months, which they called another restructuring and revisiting of the headcount. I had already put a lot of effort into studying, preparing a presentation, and waiting. I was all excited until I arrived for the onsite.

First round – Presentation. I gave it. Not all people were present. Two listened thoroughly, and one was on their mobile playing some game, I guess. They were not at all interested, and that really demotivated me. Two people did not even attend it.

Second round – Coding question and design. All I know is that I did excellent, and the interviewer also told me the same, stating it was the best technique and they didn't think it could be done better.

Third round – QA questions. I explained them very well. The interviewer was happy and said, "I think you covered almost everything." At this point, I felt I was done with two out of five interviews and that it was going my way.

Fourth round – Wait! There was no fourth round. The interviewer came and said, "We are done, and I don't think you are a fit." They then showed me the way out. I was like, "WHAT!". Then I realized the three interviews remaining were with the people who had not been present earlier.

Really a wastage of time. I always get the feeling where I underperform, but I don't think they were even interested in hiring someone.

Advice: Please don't waste people's time. They fly in and take time off from their current job to make it to interviews. At least show them some respect and treat the process with professionalism. I think all the negative news and reviews make sense. I was an idiot to believe that people might write all that because they were upset, but it seems a trend now with Tesla! Hope you guys don't waste people's time and be aware!
